If there’s one thing that’s certain in the modern world, it is stress. People who work or go to school every day rely on the weekend to take a rest by going to the spa or eating at positively-reviewed restaurants. But there are those who still prefer to stay at home so we prepared a list of chick flicks and feel good movies to go along with a bowl of popcorn and some warm blankets to soothe their nerves. They can invite some friends over which will make watching movies even more fun than doing it alone.
In no particular order, we picked:

In no particular order, we picked:
Kate and Leopold (2001)
Time travel plus the super charming and charismatic Hugh Jackman—what more can you ask for? In this movie, Hugh Jackman portrays the role of Leopold, a chivalrous duke from 19th century who fell in love with the workaholic 20th century gal, Meg Ryan. Hugh Jackman not only showed his genius acting chops, but he also demonstrated in his role how a gentleman ought to be like. To all men, you can learn a thing or two here. So take note.
Moulin Rouge! (2001)
When it comes to being tragic, nothing can probably come close to Moulin Rouge (well, aside from Titanic). But Moulin Rouge is just as romantic as it is tragic. The lead characters are Christian and Satine, portrayed by Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman who are without a doubt some of the best actors in Hollywood. They depicted a love that the world has never quite seen. Its soundtrack makes it also one of the best, if not, THE BEST musical you will ever see in your entire life. But make sure to keep some tissue within your reach, because the film will surely bawl your eyes out.

13 Going on 30 (2004)
This film not only celebrates friendship, but the love that comes from it too. Some marry their true love, some marry their best friend, but to marry that one person who is both, well, that is the purest kind of love there is. And 13 Going on 30 will show you just that. The heart-warming story of Jenna and Matt, which is portrayed by Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo, shows how love and friendship comes naturally hand in hand when you’ve found true love.

A Walk to Remember (2002)
This film is a usual favorite of almost any girl who has seen it. And it is no wonder why. This film depicts a pure kind of love so selfless that it’ll leave you awe-inspired and transformed, just as the lead character Landon Carter (Shane West) was in the movie.

About Time (2013)
About Time is probably one of the most underrated chick flicks ever. The film showed that the littlest and simplest things in life are of great importance and come with great beauty which is just sometimes left unseen by most of us. That is why it is not to be taken for granted and should be appreciated when the one has the moment to- which is always.

Begin Again (2013)
Reconciliation, forgiveness, and moving on—these are the ingredients that made up this movie, plus the amazing soundtrack that had us all singing out loud even when there were other people around to hear us. Begin Again is the story of Gretta (Keira Knightly) finding solace after a break-up with her boyfriend with the help of Dan (Mark Ruffalo), a music producer. They eventually form a band by recruiting young musicians and record their music in various parts of New York City. In the midst of creating their album, Gretta helps Dan to connect with his daughter and wife and also learns how to move on by focusing on making herself a better person.

Letters to Juliet (2010)
William Shakespeare and unconditional love fans will surely like this movie as it depicts the life of Sophie, portrayed by Amanda Seyfried, who goes to Italy on a “pre-honeymoon” with her fiancé but found herself to be involved in the midst of an abandoned but eventually reverted love story by answering to a letter written by a girl named Claire in the 1950’s addressed to Juliet of Verona.
Sophie discovers what true love is all about when she helps now elderly Claire search for her long-lost lover Lorenzo, with the companion of her grandson Charlie who in turn falls in love with Sophie despite of their indifferences when they first met.
As cliché as it may seem, this movie is great for those who want an alternative ending to Shakespeare’s most famous tragic love story.

Like Crazy (2011)
Working with only a small budget and limited amount of film crew and actors within four weeks of filming, this movie has definitely been a treat for both film and romance junkies. Like Crazy is about Anna (Felicity Jones) and Jacob’s (Anton Yelchin) struggle to keep a long distance relationship as Anna cannot enter the US again after overstaying her student visa. It’s a great film that shows just how certain circumstances can affect the relationship of a couple and the thing that was interesting was how they handled them. It will provide you cheesy improvised dialogues and unfair heartaches—so it’s generally a great movie.

Warm Bodies (2013)
Putting aside all the mild gore and zombie apocalypse setting, Warm Bodies is actually a heart-warming (pun not intended) story of a zombie called R, portrayed by Nicholas Hoult, falling in love with a human, Julie, portrayed by Teresa Palmer. The movie is an adaptation of Isaac Marion’s fictional novel with the same name. Its soundtrack is amazing and it may seem like another cliché love story about forbidden love but it’s actually more than that.
It shows how much people need to value their lives, their memories, and that they need to live each day loving each other and taking every opportunity that they can get while they’re young and alive.

Mean Girls (2004)
If we were the official judge of it, this movie would be named the epitome of all chick flicks. It’s about Cady Heron trying to fit in at her new school after being home-schooled in Africa since she was a kid. She joined an all-girl clique everyone calls “the Plastics” to ruin Regina George, the leader of the group, for getting back with her ex who happens to be Cady’s crush and also for Janis, one of her first few friends in school, who seems to profoundly resent Regina. As Cady continues to hang out with the Plastics, she eventually becomes like them, causing Janis to call her a “mean girl”.
Other than its notable dialogues that made it a popular movie, it actually teaches a lesson that nobody needs to change themselves for the satisfaction of getting other people’s good opinions.
