DEFENDING champions Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws will try to defend their crown as they prepare for the kick-off of the UAAP Season 77 Football Tournament on Nov. 29.
According to the Paolo Bugas, reigning UAAP football most valuable player, the FEU booters are “more than ready” to extend their glory and pit strength against other UAAP teams.
“Handa na kami. May pressure na dala ‘yung pagiging champion, pero ‘yun ang gagamitin namin para mag-champion ulit. Ayaw naming biguin ang mga Tamaraws,” Bugas said in a personal interview with the Colosseo.
Bugas said the Tamaraws’ preparations are doubled since they see every team as big opponents.
“Sa tingin ko, lahat ng team nag-improve. Lahat may gusting patunayan. Lahat aabangan. Walang particular na dapat paghandaan, as in, lahat dapat naming paghandaan,” Bugas said.
He added that his experience as a winger of Global Football Club, one of the country’s top football club, would help him and the team.
Recently, Bugas was also called to be a part of Azkals, the country’s national football team. He debuted as Azkal winger during their friendly match against Papua New Guinea where Azkals towered with 5-0 win over the visitors.
Bugas and the FEU squad will first face the University of Santo Tomas Golden Booters on Nov. 30 at FEU-Diliman Campus.
Last season put FEU football in the limelight as all three of their football squad, Men’s Women’s and Boy’s, won championships.
