A Medicine student from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) was killed after being electrocuted along España Boulevard during the onslaught of Typhoon Mario last Sept. 19.
Siegfreid Nathan Arcilla, 22, a sophomore student of UST Faculty Medicine and Surgery, was dead on arrival when he was brought to UST Hospital around 5:00 p.m., Friday, during the rage of Typhoon Mario. He was said to be walking in the flooded street of España, near the first gate of UST, when he got electrocuted by a live wire, as reported by the Varsitarian, the official student publication of UST.

Prior to this, Cedric Fabie, a student from Far Eastern University was also electrocuted by the same live wire and is currently under close medical attention at the UST Hospital.
According to station commander Police Supt. Mannan Caracas Muarip, the station immediately called Meralco Action Center after the first incident to cut off the electric line in the area. Despite this, Arcilla was still electrocuted near the same place, the Varsitarian reported, quoting from a memorandum issued by Maurip to the Manila Police District.
Presently, the Manila Police District is investigating the details of the accident.
Meanwhile, Arcilla’s remains will lie at the Camp Crame Mortuary in Quezon City. A mass was also held for Arcilla, a former seminarian, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor Seminary last night, Arcilla’s friends said through Facebook.
